2 Read the article on “colla-oh”.
1. Do you think colla-oh should be legal or illegal? 2. Answer the discussion questions on the back of the article with your group. Do you think the government should make colla-oh legal or illegal? Grammar Note: Punishment usually passive (수동태) vs active (능동태) They (criminals) should be arrested. Users should get fined. Serials users should be sent to prison. Dealers should be killed. Police should arrest them (criminals). Police should fine users. Courts should send serial users to prison. The governments should kill them.

1. People use two hands to pour and receive a drink. (Why do people use two hands?) 2. Younger people will turn away from older people when they drink. 3. Older people pay but younger people serve. 4. There is a ‘black knight’ and a ‘black rose’. 5. Usually people don’t just drink but also order a side dish so they have something to eat while drinking. 6. A good hangover food is something spicy (해장국, 추어탕).

14 Differences 1. People will touch glasses and say ‘cheers!’ while drinking. (Why do people touch glasses?) 2. Drinking in public is okay in Korea, but it’s illegal in the West and if you do, you could pay a fine. 3. No tipping in Korea! An average of 10-20% tip in North America. 4. In Canada, you cannot buy alcohol from a convenience store. 5. Pre-drinking before going out to a bar to save $ because it can be really expensive with taxes and tips 6. An hour before the bar closes (around 1-2am depending on the location) the bar tender will say, “last call”, this is the last time to order drinks for the night. When the bar closes (around 1-3am depending on the location), it’s “closing time”. Closing time is when you must leave the bar. Bars do not stay open all night. 7. A good hangover food is something greasy (McDonald’s) or bread.
