2. With the changes to the MFL curricula at all Key Stages, Key Stage 3 should be our focus. Students must become ‘used to’ the new assessment style so they are ready for the challenges it brings, especially at GCSE. Understandably, Ofsted wants to see more focus on KS3 in its new inspection framework. Robust and reliable assessment at KS3 is crucial for success at both KS4 and KS5.

What we do at CLW
STAC assessments tend to be written or translation tasks (extended tasks).
Peer assessments are usually speaking tasks.
Every half term, students are tested on either listening or reading (not ideal, but it takes up a lot of time).
At the end of the year, more skill areas are tested in a bigger assessment.
