2. Objectives of the cooperation between NSFC and JPI UE
Enhance capacities and knowledge on transition towards more sustainable, resilient and liveable urban developments through research cooperation between China and Europe
Reduce the fragmentation in funding of research on urban development in Europe and to build critical history of supporting Sino-European R&I cooperation
Increase the international profile of urban science, and innovation and foster the exploitation of up-to-date, social and economic models and solutions on a global stage

JPI Urban Europe is a member state initiative which is jointly driven by 14 european member states. However, in recent years JPI UE increased it‘s global engagement:
2017: Joint Call in collaboration with the Belmont Forum which brought together 8 international funding agencies to join the call on SUGI – Food Water Energy Nexus (Yellow on Map)
2018: Joint Call with the National Natural Science Foundation of China (Green on Map)
Furthermore, in light blue on the map: countries with which JPI Urban Europe explored cooperation opportunities.
