1 Steps to Writing the Enduring Issue Essay
Read all 5 the documents that you get. Underline and annotate as you read. Annotate which enduring issues fit each document. Write them next to each document. Find 1 enduring issue that is present in 3 of the documents. Make an outline. Write your essay. **your connection(s) and proofread your essay 2-3 times before turning in your Regents.

2 INTRO- 3-5 sentences BODY 1 BODY 2 BODY 3 BODY 4: PROVE how the issue has endured over time by tying all 3 docs together. CONCLUSION- 3-5 sentences You can put your connections wherever you’d like BUT REMEMBER: it’s better to give 1-2 long and meaningful connections than 3-4 short, weaker ones. For many students, writing a 4th body paragraph that connects all 3 documents together helps them achieve analysis.

Sentence 1: broad opening to your enduring issue. Sentence 2: define your issue Sentence 3: Thesis statement Power has had a profound impact throughout global history. Power is when a group, person, or country dominates another. (abuse of) Power can be seen in the Cambodian Genocide, Tiananmen Square Massacre, and the Darfur Genocide.

REMEMBER: INVEST YOUR TIME into writing a brief outline. You wouldn’t take a road trip without a map and a plan of where and when you’re going. Use abbreviations in your outline but NOT in your actual essay. DO NOT use the documents from PART II for your Enduring Issue Essay! You will earn a 0.
