5 Holocaust Memoirs Reading #1:
Abram Korn, a Polish Jew. He was deported and writes about his experiences in concentration camps. Reading #2: Viktor Frankl. He writes about his experience and the thoughts of his beloved wife. Reading #3: Primo Levi. He writes about his journey to the concentration camp known as Auschwitz.

6 Holocaust Memoirs Choose one of the memoirs that you would like to read. You will have minutes to read through the memoir without any underlining or highlighting. Remember as many details as possible. Turn your paper over. Write down as many details as you can within categories such as these: Basic Facts Hardships Emotions

7 Holocaust Memoirs 3. Read through the memoir a second time. This time you may highlight and underline important facts and details. You will have 3 minutes to do this. 4. You will now develop 5 questions for your reading using the sentence stems around the room (at least 4). Where is… What is your opinion of… What would have resulted is…

8 Holocaust Memoirs 5. Find a partner who read the same story. Trade and answer questions. You will have minutes to do this.

9 Final Assessment Compare and contrast the Holocaust to the struggle of Japanese internment camps in the United States. Pretend you are Abram Korn, Viktor Frankl, Elie Wiesel, or Primo Levi. Write a letter describing the concentration camps.
