EVALUATION QUESTION 3 Our target audience is males and females aged 18 and upwards, who like crime and appreciate postmodern approaches. This providing a focus group for audience feedback on the film so we get a response from the people we are targeting the film at. This is a useful task for media producers as it creates a relationship between the audience and them, the target audience can give advice and pointers that producers cannot necessarily see. Us, as media producers asked a group of about 20 to collectively watch our film and fill out a questionnaire also doing private views under more relaxed conditions simply asking for their thoughts at the end. The methodology of the questionnaire was very useful as participants did not reveal their name (we asked for this to ensure peoples honesty) so we gained a substantial amount of constructive criticism which was laid out easily for us to depict. From doing so, we learnt the following things could be improved: better order of events so people know what is happening, better font & background use when introducing characters. It was also beneficial in the positive feedback that we received as certain aspects of the film we had doubts about that people liked reassured us, such as the car pulling the writing onto the screen.

EVALUATION QUESTION 3 During the editing process, we encountered interim feedback from teachers which was not asked for but we did ask for classmates opinions. Teachers seemed to say more as classmates felt they didn’t want to offend us in any way. The teachers feedback was useful, especially the media technicians as he had experience in the film world he suggested techniques such as the slide on for the character names which we really liked. As we had not used the technique we needed his assistance and help to show us how to perform this technique. I feel this was the most useful piece of feedback we received as it made our piece look more professional.

EVALUATION QUESTION 3 As a group we decided to choose a questionnaire as the suitable platform for our feedback as it is easy to depict and laid out well, in categories. Using a mixture of open and closed questions so the audience did not get fed up with filling it out. Where we wanted examples is where we placed an area for an open answer, for example on the sound (diegetic and non-diegetic). Critique focused on order of events was important as a lot of people said they didn’t feel the order we had placed the shots really made sense they said they got a gist of what the film entailed but still felt a bit confused. We used Facebook and YouTube to guide us through our film production, they were useful as they are interactive media allowing commentary, also being very accessible to anyone. Overall we learnt that you can break conventions but still stick to a chronological order of a trailer to avoid confusion.
