Ephesians 5:1-2 1 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; 2 and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.

Ephesians 5:3-4 3 But immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints; 4 and there must be no filthiness and silly talk, or coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.

Self-centered conduct and speech are opposite of self-sacrificing love
Self-centered conduct and speech are opposite of self-sacrificing love. And, therefore, should there should be no hint of self-centeredness in our words and deeds.

Ephesians 5:5-6 5 For this you know with certainty, that no immoral or impure person or covetous man, who is an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.

Self-centered individuals will not enter the kingdom of God. Do not be deceived! God is loving, but He is also holy and just.

Galatians 6:7-8 7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. 8 For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.

The challenge before us is to imitate God and walk in love - to live a life of self- sacrificial acts towards God and others.
