1 P19045 Essential Tremor Test Rig II Final Review April 7th, 2019
Customer Hand-Off P19045 Essential Tremor Test Rig II Final Review April 7th, 2019

2 Performance vs Requirements
Anatomical Accuracy Essential Tremor Accuracy Data Acquisition Robustness Safety Usability

3 Anatomical Accuracy

4 Model basic movement actions
Meet the minimum requirement Arm is a little shaky and is not smooth during movements, need to fine tune

5 Model the compliance of Skin
Completely meet the requirement Dragon Skin formulation is ideal to mimic human skin

6 Anatomically accurate arm characteristics (Ex: Muscles, joints, bone sizes)
Meet the minimum requirement Dimensions wise the arm is accurate in regards to the forearm but not the hand Supination & pronation of the entire arm does not occur

7 Adjustable for different arm sizes
Meet the minimum requirement Technically yes, but the parts needs to be re-edited in a CAD software then 3D Printed or machined Has the capability for adjustable arm sizes, but additional parts need to be machined

8 Essential Tremor Accuracy

9 Accurate modeling of Essential Tremor
Meet the minimum requirement Oscillator produces tremor motion, but team did not have enough time to characterize motion and translate it into frequency, force, etc.

10 Simulate Essential Tremor while bringing hand to mouth
Completely meet the requirement Arm can provide basic movements while tremor simulates

11 A system interface to input different tremor types
Meet the minimum requirement User needs to input control within arduino script There is no GUI to input exact tremor frequency or amplitude

12 Accurate motion that reflects input data .
Team did not meet requirement Team was not able to perform accuracy tests on tremor motion

13 Data Acquisition

14 Ability to measure tremor amplitude, timing, frequency and force
Meet the minimum requirement IMU data was gathered but team was not able to effectively translate data into motion or force data

15 User-friendly output interface to display results when test rig is in use
Completely meet the requirement C++ Script in Visual Studio is easily understood and records & displays real-time data

16 Robustness

17 Repeatable and reliable operation
Meet the minimum requirement Yes but need a larger sample size to prove repeatability

18 Ability to run a variety of tests
Meet the minimum requirement A variety of tests can be run, but constrained by the motor & oscillator electrical specifications

19 Resistance to external factors (Ex: Water Damage)
Did not meet requirement There is no protective cover for our arduino, driver and motors

20 Safety

21 Must have an easily accessible operational stop switch
Did not meet requirement A stop switch is not incorporated into the device, but you can unplug the usb cord from the computer to stop all motion

22 Minimize exposed wires and sharp points
Completely meet the requirement All wires are enclosed & bundled together and there are no sharp points on the edges of our device

23 Usability

24 Has to be able to operate in a 2x2x3 foot space
Completely meet the requirement Can easily fit into tight, lab spaces

25 Future Improvements

26 Future Improvements Implement a Stop Switch for safety
Optimize Dragon Skin Cover to reduce empty space. Develop a script to convert IMU data into meaningful data like force, amplitude and frequency. By working with the DAQ group Implement a gear system for the elbow lift motion to replace the large motor Create an “all-in-one” GUI that operates arm movements and tremor in one button.
