Number Lines run horizontally (left to right) and vertically (up and down)! Opposites are number that are on either side AND the same distance from zero.

ARROWS SIGNIFY THAT THE LINE GOES ON FOREVER IN EITHER DIRECTION. ZERO IS A NEUTRAL NUMBER. IT IS NEITHER POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE.

> means "is greater than" Numbers that are greater are found to the right on a horizontal number line.
