Moa: leaves off shrubs Aphids: plant sap

3 Carnivores eat meat Seals: fish
Cats: birds, fish, insects, lizards, mice, etc. Trout: insects, small fish and sometimes mice!

4 Omnivore eat plants and meat
Chimpanzees eat a mix of plants and meat Many birds, e.g. Kaka are also omnivores

5 Parasites eat other organisms - while they are still alive
Mistletoes are plants they take nutrients/water from their host plant Some wasps lay their eggs in other insects The baby wasps eat the insect from the inside Tapeworms may be living in your gut! Mosquitos bite to get your blood

6 Decomposers break down dead organic material
Many fungi are decomposers Worms eat dead leaves
