Luke 6:47-49

2. Luke 6:47-49
47 Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: 48 he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.[a] 49 But the one who hears and does not do them is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the stream broke against it, immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.

The two builders and their mindsets
The houses that they built
The house built on the rock
The house built on sand
The trial that they faced
The house on the rock withstood the storm

4. Luke 6:47
Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show to you what he is like;” then Jesus says the story of the wise builder.

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

9. Means of Grace
God has blessed, inspired and instructed so many ancient men to write his words to us.
God has preserved the bible through many trials and attempts of destruction.
God has blessed Christianity with wise theologians who dedicated their lives to dissecting the word of God and relaying the understanding God gave them not just for people in their age but even up to us.

10. Means of Grace
God has built the church wherein we are fed by his servants the sound teaching of the word of God
God has blessed us with that ultimate blessing of Going directly to him through prayers and by this we are able to breathe out our concerns to him
God has provided us missionaries who go out to places and share the word of salvation boldly,
And many others…

11. It is also our calling to live out what we have just heard and understood in his word.

12. James 2:18
But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.

13. But once challenged to live out the teachings we heard, the world would be the testing ground to gauge our faith.

14. The foolish builder is the one who hears but does not do them.

15. We need to be continuously aligned to the study of the word of God in order to get familiar and know the will of God in our lives, in order to know the plan he has for us in living out our faith.

16. And as we live a life of Faith with God, we should:
Pray for a sound foundation
Commit to strive to live a life of a wise builder who comes to Christ, hears his word and does them

17. Acts 4:13
Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus.
