M.C. Escher By. Isaiah Cumberbatch p.2 5/4/15

2 About Maurits Cornelis Escher is one of the world's most famous graphic artists. His art is enjoyed by millions of people all over the world, as can be seen on the many web sites on the internet. He is most famous for his so-called impossible constructions, such as Ascending and Descending.

3 Early Life M.C. Escher was born in Leeuwarden, Holland in 1898.
When he was in school his family planned for him to follow his father’s career of architecture. However, poor grades and an aptitude for drawing and design eventually led him to a career in the graphic arts, specializing in woodcuts, mezzotints, and lithographs.

4 Works In his early years, Escher sketched landscapes and nature, but quickly got bored of it. Eventually Escher started making his impossible artworks. Escher's first print of an impossible reality was Still Life and Street, 1937. After he made his first impossible artwork he wanted to make more and soon he became very good.

5 Later Life After finishing school, M.C Escher traveled extensively through Italy, where he met his wife Jetta Umiker, whom he married in 1924. They settled in Rome, where they stayed until 1935. During these 11 years, Escher would travel each year throughout Italy, drawing and sketching for the various prints he would make when he returned home.

6 Homage

7 Reflection I think M.C. Escher was the best artist in the world, in my eyes. His very unique art style, using shapes to make his impossible artworks were genius. He stands out more than any artist and his artworks don’t get me bored. I believe that everyone should look at some of M.C. Escher’s artworks, they will not make you say “that sucks”.
