2 ALL ABOUT ANCIENT GREEKS
The ancient Greeks lived from 776 BC to 146 BC. The city-state Sparta was well-known for its strong army. Spartan boys trained to become warriors from the age of 7 years old! Ancient Greek pottery was decorated with scenes of soldiers, gods or daily life, as well as geometric patterns. The Parthenon is a temple in Athens that was built to honour the goddess Athena.

3 WHO WERE THE ANCIENT GREEKS?
Who were the ancient Greeks? About 2,500 years ago, Greece was one of the most important places in the ancient world. The Greeks were great thinkers, warriors, writers, actors, athletes, artists, architects and politicians. The Greeks called themselves Hellenes and their land was Hellas.

4 GREEK SPORTS The Olympic Games began over 2,700 years ago in Olympia, in south west Greece. Every four years, around 50,000 people came from all over the Greek world to watch and take part. The ancient games were also a religious festival, held in honour of Zeus, the king of the gods. There were no gold, silver and bronze medals.

5 GREEK GODS Here are some Greek god names Athena.
Poseidon. Hermes. Ares. Zeus. Aphrodite. Hera. Artemis Hera was Zeus' wife and queen of the gods. She was the goddess of women, marriage and family. Hera was well worshipped by the Ancient Greeks, and the oldest and most important temples of the region were built in honour of her. Her sacred animals were the cow, lion and peacock.

6 Greek Weapons The weapons of Ancient Greece that the Greeks used in fighting these wars were varied, powerful, and sophisticated. Some of the weapons that the Ancient Greeks used were the spear, sword, armour, shield, phalanx, ballista, and warship.

8 Greek food The Greek diet was very healthy. Food in Ancient Greece consisted of grains, wheat, barley, fruit, vegetables, breads, and cake. The Ancient Greeks grew olives, grapes, figs and wheat and kept goats, for milk and cheese. They ate lots of bread, beans and olives.

9 Greek mythical creatures
CYCLOPES. The Cyclopes were giant; one-eyed monsters; a wild race of lawless creatures who possess neither social manners nor fear of the Gods. ... CHIMAERA. Chimaera – A Fire-Breathing Monster Chimaera has become one of the most famous female monsters described in Greek mythology.
