The Offer Process - August
If entitled to an offer, you will be sent an offer notice. Check details correct - no omissions. Make sure someone checks the mail….. Offers will also be available on the CAO website. You may check for and accept offers on the website.

The Offer Process Your offer notice may contain an offer
for a Level 8 course or a Level 7/6 course or both Only accept one of them. Carry out the instructions on the notice before listed closing date

The Offer Process Any offer not accepted by the closing date for receipt of acceptance of offers in CAO will be offered to another applicant in the next round of offers. If you are away make sure someone checks

How Places are Allocated
Meet minimum entry requirements for the course, Points are calculated for this course Placed in order of academic merit, for each course applied for.

How Places are Allocated
Should some applicants decline to accept their offers these places become available in the next round of offers. This continues until all courses are filled or until all eligible applicants have been offered places.

The examination results have not yet
CK101 Arts in UCC. The examination results have not yet been released, no particular order. .

Applicants are placed in a queue for each course they applied for
Position in the queue is determined by their points.

LC results released. The applicants marked in green have enough points to be offered places. The applicant marked in red has enough points for his second preference.

Offered his second preference and he will now disappear from the queue in all his lower choices.
Placing DN201 as his second preference meant that he would prefer that course over any other course except CK101

He must accept or to do nothing
He must accept or to do nothing. If he does not accept, the offer will be offered to another applicant in the next round. He will still be considered for an offer on his first preference if a place becomes available. In the second round, one more offer was made on CK101 and our applicant is now next in line.

In the third round of offers two more offers are made and our applicant, now receives an offer.
He may do nothing and remain in DN201 or he may accept the offer and begin in CK101.

When offered a course you should accept it
When offered a course you should accept it. You can still be offered another course further up the list. If you do not accept and you do not receive any other offer you will have no course in September. After each Round – “Available places” section updates

LC Appeal results will be known in time to start a course
LC Appeals – News In 2019 Leaving Certificate will be issued to students on Tuesday, 13th August. CAO Round 1 offers will be issued to students by Friday 16th August. The appeals results will be released to students in the week beginning 16th September, a full three weeks earlier than the normal time frame (Wednesday 10th October in 2018). No First Year Undergraduate academic classes will start earlier than the second week of September. LC Appeal results will be known in time to start a course

Mistakes by students with high points
student received an offer from DCU “was told” don’t take offer wait for better one and did not get another one. student received 420 in mocks and only put down courses over 400 on CAO. received 380 in LC. Student - 6 out of 10 courses required language, failed higher language lost 6 options and did not have points for other 4. (student changed after LC) parent request – can we go back to the original list Didn’t put down med, didn’t think he would get med points and he did. Hindsight - Bribed Wish they could go to DIT
