1 Fabulous Fourth Grade Weekly Newsletter Math Writing Reading
The week of: March 19-24th Math Writing This week in math, students learned how to: two-digit numbers a step further, having students interpret numbers such as 25 as 1 ten and 15 ones as well as 2 tens and 5 ones and as 25 ones. add pairs such as and initially make 2 tens and 10 ones. interchangeably add sets of two-digit numbers where the ones digits produce a sum less than or equal to 10. (For example, when adding , students decompose the second addend into 10 and 3. They then add 10 to 17, making 27, and then add the remaining ones.) In writing this week, students: Celebrated their opinion writing! They worked so hard and I am SO proud of their growth! Got excited about our new Information writing unit coming up! Learned the differences between fact and opinion Dissected multiple Nonfiction books and found various text features Learned what a text feature is: i.e. diagram, heading, table of contents, map, caption, picture, etc. Started thinking about topics for their Nonfiction Information Books that we will start next week Reading Important Info This week in reading, students learned: What Nonfiction is Differences between nonfiction and fiction What text features are and why text features are important /aw/ sound Report Cards are available for viewing on Family Access!  So proud of all the amazing growth!
