1In Africa, the ES of ECA would Chair and the Chairperson of the African Union and the Regional Director of UNDP would also be a co-chairs.

Reinforce the coordination between the RCM (policy pillar) and the UNSDG-R (operational pillar)
Strengthening the strategic planning, the policy-operation interaction, and incorporation into CCA and UNDAFs of regional and sub-regional priorities and programming.
Both mechanisms would be convened back-to-back or through joint meetings.
Common Secretariat for the RCM and the UNSDG-R
Integrate into one single coordination mechanism the policy and operational pillars → A Regional Common Secretariat for the Combined Regional Mechanism
Revision of the RCM ECOSOC mandate would be required
Some functions of the combined mechanism, inter alia:
High level regional coordination and policy forum (strategic alignment of agendas)
UNDS policy coherence at regional level, joint regional programming
Preparation of joint analytical knowledge products through Joint Publications Board
Joint preparatory work/support to RFSD, under the auspices of ReCs
Facilitate strategic partnerships at regional level
Host the Joint Regional Publications Board.
