Umpire pay Paid 1-2 times per season – checks will arrive within 2 weeks $25-$40 per game (Plate/Trainer) Half rate for observer/base Rules by division 8 umpired teams with 5 divisions of play Rules for each division are available on the website. It is your responsibility to know the rules for your umpired game.

3. Umpire Availability & Assignments
Availability requests made by Only those who respond will be assigned games Assignments & reminders notified via text and Accept/confirm your assignments through website ALL changes come through me (via phone on gameday) No umpiring sibling games Typically schedules are done by Friday afternoon

4. Types of Umpires
Observer – First year umpires must observe 2 games before becoming eligible to work on the field.
Plate – all umpires who have completed observer duties become eligible to work on the field calling balls and strikes. You will have a training umpire with you for your first game. After that, you work solo.
Trainer – experienced umpires (3+ seasons) are able to train rookie umpires from behind the backstop.
You will be assigned games appropriate to your age/skill level. We typically like umpires to be 2+ years older than the game they are umpiring.
Beyond CAA, there are umpiring opportunities for you as you become more experienced. Metro games and tournaments are typically in need of experienced umpires.

5. Umpire Equipment Umpires must supply their own indicator
- about $5 at sporting goods store
Equipment bags are stored at fields
Lake Ann (Box by batting cages behind field #2) For Lake Ann games only
Victoria Lions (in concession building near field 3) For games at Victoria Lions, Victoria Elementary, Carver, Deithelm
Lake Susan in storage of 3rd base dugout
Rec Center (back of the warming house) For games at City Center, Chan Rec, Bandimere, Meadow Green, and all others
Bags include chest protector, face mask, plate brush, rule book
Lock codes will be provided on a separate from me

6. Umpire Expectations
Pay sheets MUST be signed by a coach after games When you are a training or observing umpire leave your mobile devices IN YOUR POCKET. Dress code (Umpire t-shirt, shorts/pants with no holes, toed shoes – no sandals/flip flops, protective cup)
