(A) Relapse origin-primitive (ROP). Relapse was traced to rare immature HSPC-like leukemia cells that were chemoresistant. This pattern demonstrates a deep hierarchal organization whereby only a rare population of HSPC-like leukemia cells express a stem cell program. (B) Relapse origin-committed (ROC). Relapse was traced to a more mature CD33+ blast population with a strong LSC-like transcriptional program. This pattern of relapse demonstrates a shallow hierarchal organization.
