OSHA Stands for the Occupational Safety, and Health Administration
Congress passed the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 to: assure safe and healthful working conditions for working men and women by setting and enforcing standards and by providing training, outreach, education and assistance.

OSHA Coverage The OSH act covers:
employers and their employees either directly through federal OSHA or through an OSHA-approved state program. State programs must meet or exceed federal OSHA standards for workplace safety and health.

Example: An employer wants to know if an employee must remove “street clothing” before putting on protective clothing when working in a Class 1 asbestos environment. Standard (j)(1)(ii)(B) – topic of street clothing An employee is allowed to wear “street clothing” underneath a protective suite. (Given the amount of exposure to asbestos)
