SAC’s position: Authorized by the State Council to exercise administrative responsibilities by undertaking unified management and overall coordination of standardization work in China. SAC’s main objectives in promoting international standards: to promote greater industry awareness of international standardization and relevant activities; to encourage all the TCs experts’ participation in ISO/IEC activities; Being responsible for inspecting and managing the national TCs’ voting on ISO/IEC technical drafts.

7 Goals for adopting international standards in the future 5 years
The rate of translating international standards into national standards shall reach 70%; The rate of adopting international standards for major industrial products in key industries shall reach 75-80%; To participate in drafting international standards; To be responsible for over 50 projects of drafting international standards or making our national standards adopted by international standards; To foster a team of more than 1,000 experts who are good at foreign languages and specialized in their professions for actively participating in international standard preparing.

1.To follow up the research on the market changes and adjust our standard management policy and standards process accordingly; 2. Building the information infrastructure of standards process by a full application of e-document exchange and distribution; 3. To learn to apply new international standards intermediate deliverables, such as PAS, ITA, TTA, IWA in our national standards preparing; 4.To strengthen the project management for our standards by streamlining project management mechanisms; 5. To improve the transparency of our standards process by improving communication means with other ISO or IEC members and making prompt notification of China’s standardization activities and standards preparation; 6. To encourage and support all walks of the society to involve in our standards preparing, especially anticipating enterprise involvement.

10 Conclusion More and more communication channels and measures to improve our mutual understanding for Sino-US standardization cooperation.
