2 IMAGINATIONS ASSOCIATED WITH THE WORD ’’BULL’’ IN ANIMAL KINGDOM.
Strong. Aggressive. Dominant. Fighter. Territorial. Protector. Leader.

3 IN HUMANS. These are also found in the genetic make-up of humans.
Humans are able to control such to a certain extent. During the ongoing development of an individual these strong characteristics are subdued/are chanelled in a positive way. These can be noticed at all levels of a human being: Childhood as well as Adulthood.

4 What is Bullying? Described as, when someone is being HURT either by WORDS or ACTIONS on PURPOSE, usually more than once. Almost 50% of <25s experienced it in their lifetime. It`s easy to assume that everyone know what bullying is, but that is not the case.

5 Elements bullying is based on.
It is deliberate. Involve misuse of power. Repeated overtime. Involve behaviour that can cause harm. It is not a normal part of growing up.

6 TYPES OF BULLYING Verbal. Use of force /Physical. Cyber Bullying.
Social.

7 Modalities. At home. School. Community. Workplace. Church.

8 Risk factors of bullying
Low understanding of emotional/social interactions. Tendency to become easily upset. Suffering from psychological conditions, like anxiety or depression. Individuals with disabilities or special needs. Socially isolated individuals. Low self-esteem. Individuals who are perceived to be weak or unable to defend themselves.

9 Effects of bullying It has everyone worried, not just the bullied, but bystanders as well. They perceive their environment as unsafe and develop anxiety from what they are witnessing and end up avoiding it. Leads o low-self esteem as the action is carried mostly where there`s an audience resulting in humiliation. Psychological disorders as, depression, anxiety, eating disorders and substance abuse. Isolation resulting in suicidal behaviours and self harm. Decreased productivity. Drop out of school or quit job-resulting greater challenges lateron.

10 Warning signs Bullied Unexplained injuries.
Lost or destroyed belongings. Frequent faking sickness. Change in eating habits. Change in sleeping patterns. Sudden loss of friends and interest on things they normally loved. Low self-esteem. Feeling of helplessness and self destructive behaviour. Bullies Get physical or verbal fights. Have friends who bully others. Increased aggressiveness. Frequent detentions and reports to Authorities. Have unexplained money and other valuable items. Blame others for their problems. Don`t accept responsibility for own actions. Highly competitive and worry a lot about their reputation or popularity.

11 What must parents or family do.
Get involved in your family members daily lives by showing interest in the kind of day each had by asking specific questions. Share all information with them to create awareness. Peer support and mentoring can make a difference and mitigate these negative effects for both bullies and bullied.

12 Take home message Bullying prevention and mitigation is everyone`s responsibility. Treat everyone with respect. What to do when bullied. Protect yourself from any kind of bullying. Stand up for others. Get involved.
