4 Let’s breakdown the rubric sections to ensure we all do well!
What is the content and analysis section looking at/for? This section wants to look at what your paper is about, the central idea, and how well developed it is. It wants to ensure you are answering the task clearly and accurately. What about the command of evidence section? This section takes a look at how well your ideas are developed through the use of evidence and how relevant is it to your paper. The better and more relevant the evidence, the better your score will be. How can we get a good grade in terms of coherence, organization, and style? Think of this section as liquid honey, it has to do with how it flows and sticks together. This section refers to how well your paragraphs flow from one to the next. The readers of your paper will have no trouble understanding the ideas you wish to express because it has been organized well and it is coherent.

5 Control of Conventions!
This section is all about how well you understand the conventions or rules of English grammar, usage, capitalization, punctuation, and spelling Remember to italicize the title of the play like this: Romeo and Juliet. Use correct grammar and punctuation. One way to ensure you catch these mistakes is to your essay aloud when you think you are done. Microsoft Word or Google Docs will not catch all of your mistakes! Some of the most commonly confused words are there, their, and they’re. All of these words are pronounced the same, but the spellings are different and mean different things. The word “they’re” is a contraction. Use it only when you can substitute they are. You wouldn’t say the sentence: “The dog is over they’re.” because that would mean “The dog is over they are.” which makes no sense. The word “their” is a pronoun and it is used to show ownership/possession. The word “there” is used as an adverb or pronoun. It is used to show a place or a position, to tell of the existence of something, or when the verb comes before the subject in a sentence.

6 Write Your Essay Using the laptops we will continue to work on the essay. Take out the handouts from yesterday and I will come around assisting you with writing your introductions, thesis, body paragraphs, finding evidence, or anything else you may need help with in regards to the essay.

7 Reflection! What are your next steps in composing the essay? What assistance/guidance do you need from your teacher or peers to make sure you are successful?
