2 name naming system First name: Genus (Homo) (always capitalized) Second name: species (sapiens) (always lowercase) Both names are italicized or underlined. Uses the taxonomic levels arranged in a hierarchy. Developed by Carolus Linnaeus Referred to as Linnaean taxonomy
