Before we write anything on the map, you are going to work individually then with a group to brainstorm important things you think might need to go on the map. Hint: There are 17 items that you are going to label. Some are more obvious than others. Get the students’ responses and talk about them. You want to make sure you bring up latitude and longitude and how these can help. Longitude – These lines tell you your distance east or west of the Prime Meridian. Latitude – These lines tell you your distance north or south of the equator.
