Tonight- Getting to know us and asking any questions
Pre School/Nursery Visits- Past 2 weeks
Shuffle Up Day-Thursday 5th July am/pm
Parents Meeting Day- Friday 6th July
Start of School- Part time first 8 days starting full time on Friday 7th September.

5. Arriving at school 8:45am, register by 9:05
If your child is upset the best thing you can do is to walk away and leave them. They will calm down and settle, if they don’t we will always ring you to let you know.

6. Self registration 8:45am
To encourage the children to settle on the carpet we do a morning challenge altogether. This might be wake and shake, a counting video, a phonics game.

7. Birthday assembly Thursday morning 9:05am
When we are ready we will start attending 2 morning assemblies. One is a whole school assembly with Mr Petrie and the other is a birthday assembly for foundation stage and KS1.

8. Choosing time 9:15-10:30am

9. Play time and snack time 10:30am
We have fruit and drink to take out for playtime. Please make sure your child’s water bottle is labelled clearly.

10. Daily Phonics Lesson 10:45am

11. Lunch time 11:50am
All entitled to free school meal. We go down ten minutes before everyone else to settle in. We stay with the children until 12pm to make sure they are settled. We do this for the whole year.

14. Getting ready for Reception
Dress and undress independently
Open their lunch boxes- packets
Use a knife and fork

Practice writing their first name
Socialise with other children in class
Count everything
Be positive about school!

We value parental contributions to the children's learning journeys. We will be giving you “wow moments” to fill in for over the summer break on our parents meeting.

20. Summer Holiday Activity
Please make a “settling in” bag- including an “All About Me” poster and a transition toy.
All about me- A4 piece of paper containing family photos/drawings and things that are special to your child that they can talk about and share with the class.
Transition toy- a toy from home to provide comfort on their first day. This can be any small toy, e.g. a teddy bear or a doll.
Summer Library Reading Challenge

We would love to hear about any adventures you have in the summer holidays!
If your child would like to send the school a postcard the address is New Swannington Primary school, Church Ln, Coalville LE67 5DQ.
Children will have the opportunity to share their postcard with the class and it will then be placed in their learning journeys.
