Tragic: deaths and natural disasters Prelude: something that happens before something else Prelude to the civil war. John Brown led raid at Harper’s Ferry. The North thought John Brown was a hero.

4 Causes of the Civil War Provide an original, creative title for your cause (remember that the death of John Brown after Harpers Ferry was a Tragic Prelude). On the left side of your poster provide the basic facts about your cause and the corresponding page numbers from the textbook. On the right side draw a visual with captions that illustrates your cause and connects to the title your group has created. On the very bottom of your poster, write a 1-2 sentence thesis statement that answers the following question: “How is your person, place, event or idea a cause of the Civil War?”
