What is it that determines Christian ethics and distinguishes a Biblical Worldview? Tonight we will: Discuss class expectations Define “Christian Ethics” Define “Biblical Worldview” Self Assess our Biblical Worldviews Examine the condition of the American Church

4 Class Expectations Weekly Prompts Adoration and appeal
Process what you’ve learned Essay: Intro, body, conclusion At least two Scriptures At least two quotes from the text Proper Turabian style of footnoting Adoration and appeal No more than three minutes Use your imagination (lead in prayer, divide into groups, silent meditation, Scripture reading, etc.) No teaching, only prayer. Founded on the Bible, the whole of Scripture, the Old and New Testaments Scripture: “Men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God” (2 Peter 1:21) The Eleven Apostles: The witnesses of Jesus under power of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:2-8) Paul’s letters (2 Peter 3:16) Worldview How someone views the world and his/her place in it The way someone thinks about the world

9 Biblical Worldview Having a view of reality, the world, and your place in it as defined by the literal interpretation of the Bible.

5% of adults have a biblical worldview 8% of protestants have a biblical worldview Protestant: Bible not inherent, but historical and must be interpreted through the ages; there are other ways to salvation; less concerned about conversion and more about the spiritual journey; spreading the word is more than just about conversion, it’s about making lives better. 50% of evangelicals have a biblical worldview .5% of Catholics have a biblical worldview Evangelical: Salvation through the atoning death of Jesus Christ alone; conversion through personal faith in Him, the authority/inherency of Scripture; personal responsibility to share faith, and the importance of preaching as contrasted with ritual
