1 Arrest made in LAX dry ice explosion

2 An employee of Los Angeles International Airport was arrested Tuesday night in connection with dry ice explosions that occurred earlier this week. On Sunday, dry ice in a plastic bottle exploded in an employee restroom at the airport, causing a brief shutdown of Terminal Two. No injuries were reported, and the terminal resumed operations after a brief evacuation. The suspect, identified as Dicarlo Bennett, 28, was charged with the incident, according to a Los Angeles Police Department statement. Investigators allege that Bennett took the dry ice from a plane, put it inside a 20-ounce plastic bottle, and placed it in the restroom, where it exploded Sunday night. They also allege that Bennet put a similar device outside the airport's international terminal the same night. Remnants of that device were found by an employee, who threw it away. The same employee found an unexploded bottle Monday evening and then reported what he found the previous day. The suspect is being held on a $1 million bond and faces a charge of possession of a explosive or destructive device near an aircraft. Police believe the explosions were set off because of an internal labor dispute and not terrorism because of the locations of the devices and because no innocent civilians were targeted.

3 In Other News The wearyingly difficult process of trying to make a deal resumes Wednesday, as the government enters day 16 of the partial shutdown. Legislators dropped hints on their way home Tuesday that Senate leaders will present a deal to raise the debt ceiling and reopen the partially shuttered government.
