2 Description Skin is injured scar tissue forms over the wound to repair and protect Scar tissue grows excessively, forming smooth hard growths called keloids. Located on the chest, earlobes, shoulders and cheeks

3 Signs and symptoms Lumpy or ridged area of skin that’s usually raised
An area that continues to grow larger with scar tissue over time An itchy patch of skin

4 Etiology Acne scars Chicken pox scars Burns Ear piercing Scratches
Incisions sites Vaccination sites

5 Treatment Freezing the tissue to kill skin cells
Laser treatments to reduce scar tissue Using pressure or silicone gel pads after injury Moisturizing oils to keep the tissue soft

6 Poison Ivy

7 Description A rash is caused by an allergic reaction to an oily resin called urushiol Urushiol is in the leaves, stems and roots of poison ivy The rash looks like a straight line because of the way the plant brushes against your skin

8 Signs and Symptoms Redness Itching Swelling Blisters

9 Etiology If you touch the leaves, stem, roots or berries of the plant, you may have a reaction Walking through poison ivy could lead to getting onto your shoes then, getting on your hands, and then possibly to your face If inhaled the smoke of burning poison ivy you could harm your nasal passages or lungs

10 Treatment Mainly limited to home made remedies but some may include
An over-the-counter corticosteroid cream for the first few days Calamine lotion Soak in a cool-water bath containing an oatmeal-based bath product (Aveeno) Place cool, wet compresses on the affected area for 15 to 30 minutes several times a day
