2. Reading and planning each text
Read the text and annotate anything that “jumps out” at you straight away
Identify context: Mode, Function and Tenor (field will be covered under “meanings”)
Identify approx 4 key themes/ ideas discussed (this counts as “meanings” and field) THEN find some language features that create these ideas/themes
Identify approx 4 key representations, e.g. how the topics are represented (how golf is represented), how the writer/ speaker is represented (how the company is represented), how the audience is represented (who is the ideal reader?) THEN find some language features that support these representations (also link to context)

3. Writing Your Essay
For the introductory paragraph for questions 1 and 2, introduce the key meanings and representations
For the rest of the essay, write a paragraph on each meaning/ representation, giving supporting language features as examples
For question 3, your introductory paragraph should summarise the context of both texts
