Lesson 3: Using Excel to create graphs This is how your data should look in Sheet 2. Your task now is to make a series of graphs to show each of the three data sets here: - Mean Ocean pH Mean Ocean CO2 ppm Mean atmospheric CO2 ppm 1

To make your graphs, select the ‘Insert’ tab at the top of the screen. You can see the chart types available. 2

4 Then select the chart type you want.
Lesson 3: Using Excel to create graphs Highlight the data you wish to work with. If you highlight the title then this will automatically label your data. Then select the chart type you want. 3

5 A graph will appear on the page.
Lesson 3: Using Excel to create graphs A graph will appear on the page. If you right click the data an option will appear to add a trendline. Select the ‘Linear’ option and click ‘OK’. 4

Highlight all the years and click ‘OK’ and then ‘OK’ again. This will add the years to your graph. 7

Lesson 3: Using Excel to create graphs There are many other options available. The Design tab offers various choices. You can drag the corners of the chart area to increase the size of the graph. You can also copy and paste the chart into other programs. 8
