“PERFECT” Teleios – “Complete (in various applications of labor, growth, mental & moral character, etc.) “For a thing to be perfect (teleios) is for it to ‘reach its end’” Describes the totality of a thing, that which is whole or undivided.

“PERFECT” 1 Corinthians 2:6 “who are mature” 1 Corinthians 14:20 “be mature” Ephesians 4:13 “perfect man” Philippians 3:15 “are mature” James 1:4 “be perfect”

As The Father is Perfect
Matthew 5:48 Father is the Standard Context – Matthew 5:44 “love your enemies” Matthew 5:45 He makes sun rise… sends rain on just and the unjust”

As The Father is Perfect
We Need to Aspire in Character to be More Like God and Less Like The World (Romans 12:2) Love that is Whole, Complete, Well Rounded, Perfect, is love patterned after the love of God

Perfect vs. Self-Righteousness
We are to set our affections upon God – Matthew 6:24 1 Corinthians 2:6 – Mature man is Spiritually Minded vs. being Carnally Minded Not that we go the rest of our lives without a single sin – 1 John 2:1

It IS the ides of being Complete in our Dedication to God, in Thinking, Speech, Behavior & Loyalties IF we claim to be Loyal to God while Living in Sin, we are Hypocrites – James 1:5-8

Every Passage Where we are Commanded to be Perfect-
God is the Standard – Matthew 5:3-5 Only when we realize our Absolute Need for the Grace of God & Humble Ourselves in His Sight can we Truly be Perfect – James 4:10

Lose Sight of God – Place Confidence in Own Accomplishments
We Become Self-Righteous – Romans 10:3 Luke 18:11 Their TELIOS is SELF and NOT GOD!

We Are Commanded To Be Imitators of God
Ephesians 5:1 John 15:12 – Love as Jesus Loved Matthew 11:29 – Learn to be Gentle & Lowly of Heart 1 Peter 1:15 – Be Holy as God is Holy

We May Not Do All Things Perfectly
