Patients with heart failure enter the healthcare system in very many different ways, and this complex slide shows some pathways of patients in Europe and North America. They may enter through the emergency room, go to see their general or family physician, or be seen in a special clinic. If their symptoms are severe enough, they will be admitted to hospital and treated.
Furthermore, the flow of patients through the hospital can very tremendously from one centre to another.
