Graduation Requirements
In order to receive a Georgia High School Diploma, the current rule states that students must earn the following credits/units: 4 Units English Science Mathematics Social Studies 3 Units CTAE, and/or World Language, and/or Fine Arts 1 Unit Health and Personal Fitness Electives (Minimum) Total to Graduate 24

Promotion Criteria 5 units required for promotion to the 10th grade
You must obtain a minimum number of units in each grade level to be promoted to the next grade level: 5 units required for promotion to the 10th grade 11 units required for promotion to the 11th grade 17 units required for promotion to the 12 grade 24 units required for GRADUATION

Honors and AP Classes You may want to think about your student and their traits as a student. Honors and AP requires more time, more work than most classes. Almost all honors and AP courses require reading, writing and activities outside of the classroom. Students must learn to manage their time.

Athletic Eligibility Any student entering ninth grade for the first time is eligible to participate in athletic activities for the first semester To remain eligible: student must pass 5 classes to participate for second semester At the end of the ninth grade year, the student must be on track to graduate (minimum 5 credits earned) Students must have an updated physical on file.

Registration Process Eighth grade core academic teachers will enter course requests in PowerSchool. Students will choose their electives on the form everyone received this afternoon. Individual parent and student meetings will be held on February 28 and March 1 at CMS.

February 2 (Friday) Students’ elective forms are due in home room. Students’ can turn their elective forms into their homeroom teachers at CMS. February 28 and March 1- individual student/parent meetings at CMS. Freshman Fee Day- August 6
