A Spiritual Ode implies that it is a message that is inspired, either directly or indirectly. In other words, it might be considered a specific scriptural message that is coincidentally being sung. Therefore, singing a Spiritual Song is singing a spiritual scriptural message.

15. God’s Wisdom in Singing
God’s wisdom in singing is manifested: 1) Because singing lifts us up personally 2) Because singing teaches us 3) Because singing is an action of unity
1Ki 21:2 Ahab spoke to Naboth, saying, "Give me your vineyard, that I may have it for a vegetable garden because it is close beside my house, and I will give you a better vineyard than it in its place; if you like, I will give you the price of it in money." 3 But Naboth said to Ahab, "The LORD forbid me that I should give you the inheritance of my fathers." 4 So Ahab came into his house sullen and vexed because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him; for he said, "I will not give you the inheritance of my fathers." And he lay down on his bed and turned away his face and ate no food.

16. Our Obligation in Singing
1) We must sing with our hearts and minds What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding. 1 Corinthians 14:15
Singing with understanding may include making the effort to learn how to sing
