Building a Logic Model to Guide Equity-Focused Practice

What is a Logic Model? A clear and simplified picture of a program, initiative or set of actions designed to respond to a situation. A framework and process for planning to bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be. It shows a logical relationship among the resources, activities and benefits or change. The programs theory of action- a plausible model of how a program is supposed to work. Conveys the underlying rationale for how an initiative should work

Mapping it out: Culturally Responsive Classroom Practice
THEORY OF ACTION :If teachers work together to design and use culturally responsive practices, then they will increase their instructional effectiveness Input: Teacher time Outputs: Weekly ½ planning meetings for new classroom practice Weekly ½ peer observation and classroom video analysis Outcomes: Increase teacher collaboration, trust, feedback and clarity about how to enact cultrually responsive pedagogy

Theory of Action: IF we hire bilingual leaders,THEN we will have greater capacity to engage our families in leadership activities in the school district. Inputs HR time and attention Outputs Cultivate Board Support Creating new job descriptions Recruitment Outcomes Use each new hire as an opportunity to increase the district’s bilingual capacity
