Year 6: The Legacy Project

2 The purpose of the final challenge is
to celebrate the Gladiators’ achievement over the course of the programme to conclude the competitive element of the programme To make them realise they are part of a bigger activity that is taking place in other schools

3 to exemplify the skills Gladiators have practised throughout the programme
to enrich the school by leaving a reading legacy from which other pupils will benefit to have fun! *Particularly their creative responses to the books through artwork and drama activities. To foster a love of reading and make them hungry for more books with covers they wouldn’t normally have picked up, more books by the authors they have been introduced to and just the desire to read more widely and think about and share the stories they read, relating them to their own lives and those around them. This could be formally To take on a role of Library monitor or Reading Champion – if you don’t already have these in place in your school now might be anappropriate time to establish these roles Or informally, just having the confidence to recommend reads to peers. Verbally or through Shelf shouters/Shelfies in your Library or class collection.
