3. USDA NASS Crop Progress (through May 26)
Corn planting nationally slowest all time through May 26 at 58%. Beans 2nd (behind 1995) at 29%. Iowa at 76% and 32% actually better than most other states.

Emergence progress similar to planting. Nationally corn 32% emerged – beans 11%. Iowa again somewhat better off at 42% and 8%.

Heaviest rain across south and far NW. Over 5-6” in places. Less than 2” from central to NE.

Close to average last 90 days SW to NE. Heavier far NW and SE.

D0 pockets in North Dakota and Minnesota. No dry areas in Iowa/most of Midwest.

Continued heavy rains but mostly southeast of IA this week. Could open a little final planting window for IA. More problems to the southeast.

Warmer this week, but likely cooler again next week. Chances for rain continue, though not as strongly – still above average.

13. 30 Day Temp and Precip. Outlook
30 day outlook – mostly EC for the state. Equal chanced for below and above. Some good news in that wet and cool are not more likely.

Very delayed planting/development continues across Corn Belt – below avg. GDD. Iowa somewhat better planting than most places.
Much cooler than average for May.
Precipitation above to well above average statewide.
Outlook info:
Rain chances continue, though likely less than recent.
Some warmth this week with likely cooler next week.
Wet soils issues continue with more flooding possible.
