Transgenic c-Maf mediates upregulation of type 2 cytokines in NOD CD4, but not CD8, cells. Cytokine responses of purified lymph node CD4 (top) or CD8 (bottom) cells from NOD/c-Maf ([cjs2110]) or nontransgenic (▪) mice were measured by ELISA using supernatants collected 3 days after anti-CD3 plus anti-CD28 stimulation. Data are plotted as mean ± SD obtained from >3 mice per group assayed in 2-3 independent experiments. *Statistically significant differences between transgenic and nontransgenic values in which P < 0.05 using one-tailed Student's t test.
