The Writing of the Book The Background
God instructed Jeremiah to record his prophecies in writing Jeremiah employs Baruch, to whom he dictates his message The Background Fall of Assyrian and rise of Babylon Destruction of Jerusalem and deportation of its people Photo: Jeremiah rebukes the people for building a high place to Baal (Cannanite storm god) at the "Vally of the Son of Hinnom" and sacrificing their children there (Jer. 7:31-32; 32:35). Because of this, it will be called "Valley of slaughter" (Jer. 7:32; 19:6). This location is just outside of Jerusalem on the west side.

This seal, though considered a forgery by some, refers to a person with the same name and same father's name.
