What is the Conflict Theory?
Sociological and political power that holds a society together. Conflicts between groups in society involving inequalities. Used to criticize, not to explain to society. Structure of society does not work for everyone.

Cont. People are divided by the power they are in
(ex. Capitalist class vs. Working class) Bougeoisie: controlled production, wealthy, small business owners (tremendous power) Proletariat: working people in society. Predicted for the future: bougeoisie will become smaller and richer and proletariats will become larger and poorer.

Battle of the SEXES! MEN - Labour inside the home is unpaid for.
EXPLOITATION & OPPRESSION WOMEN - Labour inside the home is unpaid for. Supported by men. Must marry, reproduce and work. Economic support from marriage. MEN Labour outside the home is paid for. Can support a wife and children. Power of the house! Sell labour for wages.

Examples : WARFARE & REVOLUTION : collations among a variety of social classes

Examples: STRIKES: When workers feel they have been treated unfairly, they go on strike to regain their right to power

Examples: DOMINATION: Different social classes tend to form different ideologies based around promotion of their own class' welfare.
