Important Skill: Integrating essential steps of interpreting
Can you recall the steps we covered so far? i. listen and understand the idea of the passage; ii. tell the key information from the rest; iii. pick 2-3 key words for each key point (or sentence) and jot them down in abbreviations; iv. sketch the logic flow of information with symbols and signs; v. look back and recall the source information. vi. De-verbalize and adjust word order. vii. Express in the target language.
