Upload class list Mandatory Column Formats School Min Code: 8 digits, including leading zeros To keep the leading zero, change the format of the cells to “Text” instead of “General” Class Time: KF Indicating Full Day Kindergarten Teacher First Name & Last Name: Name - remove any accents (e.g., é) Child First Name & Last Name: Name - remove any accents (e.g., é) Child PEN: 9 digit unique Personal Education Number Child Gender: F or M Child Date of Birth: M/D/YYYY Set format to “Date” and select the M/D/YYYY option (without *) under location English (U.S.) OR M/D/YY under location English (Canada) Child Postal Code: With or without a space (e.g., V6T 1Z3 or V6T1Z3) Aboriginal: Y or N Optional Column Formats Special Needs: Y or N ESL: Y or N English language learner designation ESD: Y or N English as a second dialect designation French Immersion: Y or N

Enter your kindergarten teachers’ district addresses beside each name Save as .csv file For job sharing classrooms, enter one of the teachers and you can then add an additional classroom teacher afterwards. Easiest if you send us the information to add the teacher.

16 4. Download TOC Report At the end of EDI Administration you can download the TOC report to submit for reimbursement to HELP. This report confirms the number of EDIs completed by each teacher.

The first thing a teacher will see is the Welcome Page Click on Steps 1 “Add/Delete Students” to get started If a teacher has any questions, they can also ask the district trainer or contact HELP at edi.ubc.ca

If a student is missing from the class list that has been in a teacher’s class for 30 days or more: They can click on “Options” and select “Add Student” PENS must be accurate!: The system will not duplicate a PEN number edi.ubc.ca

If a child left the class or a parent withdraws their child from the study - DO NOT complete the EDI Delete the child by following these steps: selecting the child’s name to view the student info page Selecting “options / Edit” to move to the editing page for child info Selecting “Options / Delete” Confirming the deletion and the reason why edi.ubc.ca

Click on the question mark to open the guide explanation Click on the Show information… link for more information about how to answer the questions in the section. To move through students AND SAVE YOUR DATA, click “Save & Continue” or “Previous” You can also move section by section and from student to student using the buttons at the top and bottom If you leave any questions blank, a pop up box will alert you before you move to the next page. Click on Show Survey Progress to check if you have missed any questions.

The Survey Progress page shows how many questions have been completed in each section of the EDI.
