The value chain – from capture to storage

Road ahead Q4 2023 November/December 2019 September 2019 Q2 2020
Norwegian State FID In operation FEED Studies completed Drilling of injection well Aurora Northern Lights FID
8
Enables ”open source” offer for CO2 emitters to establish capture
Sectors with largest potential: Hydrogen from natural gas Waste incineration Cement Biomass and biofuel Steel Refinery
9
Beginning of a European network for CO2 removal
EU PCI application submitted PCIs (Projects of Common Interest) are infrastructure project that link energy systems of EU countries. PCI status is a milestone for a project to be eligible for EU CEF funding. Northern Lights PCI application has 15 partners from 7 countries
10
Capture candidates need many things for realizing their projects
Strategic fit with company interests Political and public support Stepwise project maturation: feasibility – concept - FEED – execution - operation Trust in solutions and partners Policy frameworks coming in place Dedicated public funding of increasing size: e.g. 1 – 3 – 10 – 100 million € See proof of future markets
11
CCS to help cities meet their ambitions
Waste-to-Energy plants Berlin Copenhagen – Carbon Neutral by 2025 Berlin – Climate Neutral by 2050 London – 80 % reduction in emission by 2050 Oslo – 95 % reduction in emissions by 2030
