Activity: Develop an Organisation chart for Onslow College.

Organizational Structure
Delegation - the assignment of authority and responsibility to another person (normally from a manager to a subordinate) to carry out specific activities. Span of control - The number of personnel that a supervisor is responsible for. Chain of command – the line on which orders and decisions are passed down from top to bottom of the hierarchy. Hierarchy - A hierarchy is a system of ranking and organising things or people. Flat Organisation - an organisational structure with few or no levels of intervening management between staff and managers. Tall Organisation - A tall organizational structure is characterized by many levels of management. Matrix structure – self autonomous group structure often in departments. Combine to achieve the organisation’s goals Organizational Structure The organisational chart is a visual map of how an organised is structured

Tall, Flat or Matrix: Would a Tall, Flat or Matrix structure be better in the following situations:- Highly skilled workers. Motivated workers Job requiring low skills Inexperienced staff Low skilled/inexperienced managers Short Answer questions: What are the two major benefits of each management structure. Explain how delayering would occur at Onslow College NCEA Style Question: Discuss the impact of delayering on a major NZ Bank. In your answer your should:- Explain how “delayering” would impact on the bank. Fully explain how delayering would impact the bank in the short-term. Fully explain how it might impact on the bank in the long-term. Justify, with reasons, if delayering is a correct response for a NZ Bank.
