Welcome to Breakfast of Champions
November 17, 2016

Ms. Sarah Boy

Blake Pierson Blake is in my first period US History class. He is always willing to help other students in class when they are struggling. One instance in particular, he was extremely helpful to me and the rest of the class. While working on a project based on technology, technology was not working in our favor. Blake quickly figured out a way to get around the issue and was able to help the other students in the class. I know that I can always count on Blake to be a leader in class and help those around him.

Mr. Corey Gochee

Reshad Hurst Reshad came to Cartersville HS this year and took a little time to get adjusted, initially. He is a soft spoken, respectful young man that has really stepped up his effort over the last few weeks in my class. Although he started slow, he is really coming on strong here lately. With his continued strong effort there is no doubt he will have a successful semester in my World Geography. As his effort carries over to his other classes, there is no doubt he will get his high school career off to good start.

Mr. John Gridley

Abigail Phillpot Abby is the model student. She is conscientious and works hard. She has the highest average of all 150 seniors I have in Economics. I love her feisty attitude. She takes a joke well and can give it back to you. She has made my year more enjoyable just seeing her every day. She is a pleasure to teach.

Ms. Jennilynn Hawn

Laney Edmonson In a class and school oftentimes filled with vivid and loud personalities, Laney's quiet joy for learning doesn't go unnoticed. Her enthusiasm and understanding of history, day in and day out, along with her phenomenal work ethic and desire to "get it right" makes Laney my Champion! Laney, thanks for being you and bringing your A-game every day.

Ms. Melissa Moore

McGowan Adams McGowan is a young man with a great amount of heart. He has made some mature decisions this year in an attempt to improve his education. He is making great strides in his learning. His heart, concern for others, and desire to improve are just a few of the qualities that make him so endearing.

Mr. Chad Murray

Marcus Gary Theodore Roosevelt once said that "nothing worth having was ever achieved without effort". As educators, the fact that a student genuinely tries, means so much. Marcus is the perfect example of a student finding success due to relentless effort in the classroom. I never have to ask Marcus for make-up work as he does what he is asked the first time. His test grades show effort in studying for those as well. On top of this great effort in the classroom, Marcus' behavior is exemplary as well. He is very respectful to teachers and other students. He is always smiling and is simply a pleasure to have in the classroom. In times of frustration, educators sometimes wonder why they do what they do. Marcus, and students like him, are the reason why. Everyone wants to be a champion. Today, I am proud to honor Marcus as a champion in the classroom.

Mr. Brandon Patch

Barry Franklin Barry Franklin is being nominated for the Breakfast of Champions for his outstanding work in U.S. History. I always appreciate how Barry comes to class early and ready to learn. He has shown a desire to make all A’s this year and has carried out this goal with hard work and consistent effort each day. Barry is a pleasure to work with because I can count on him to do what is asked and I know that he gives me his best effort. It has been a pleasure to watch Barry grow and mature as a student over the last two years.

Mr. Dusty Phillips

Abigail Phillpot Thank you for your desire to know more everyday. Having you in class pushes me to be a better teacher!

Mr. Kyle Tucker

Deanna Wallis Dean is an outstanding student that works very hard and sets a great example for her classmates. She has been a great addition to Cartersville High School this school year.

Ms. Emily Walker

Savannah McCOol Recently, Savannah was faced with life-altering medical news. She was very sick and would need life-sustaining medications every day for the rest of her life-or she would die. She battled mental and physical setbacks on a daily basis and often still finds herself hospitalized in grave condition despite the medications that keep her alive. Through these great hardships, I have watched Savannah smile and persevere. She works diligently to stay on top of her grades and be successful despite missing many days of school. She happily shares her story with my AP Psych classes to help them better understand academic material being discussed. She lifts others up when she is the one that needs to be cared for. Savannah is a great role model not only for her peers, but also for the adults she comes into contact with. Through any trial life may hand us, we can only hope to be as strong as Savannah.
