2. Review AP students are required to take the AP exam in May
Our exam is Friday May 10th
The pass rate is 50%, DSA’s pass rate is much higher closer to 70-80%
The bill for this years AP test has been PAID (last I checked)
Much more will be expected of your student than the in an Honors Course
I do not expect to have behavior issues in this class. There will be no tolerance towards anything that disrupts learning
Students will write frequently, test often, and read always
Academic Honesty is paramount for success, failure to live up to the honor code is a serious violation of the trust given by your teachers, your parents, and your classmates.

5. Ways to Help Your AP Child #1 Student Response: “give us some space”
Emotional Support- allowing for creative outlets, maintaining positivity
Look for progress reports and discuss grades
Look out for extra-help opportunities at the school and district level.
Ask them about what they are learning

6. Ways to start the year right
Dedicate time to figuring out your reading “routine”
Do you read best in the morning or at night? Do you have time to do you reading during the day?
Do you prefer the physical text or the audiobook
How do you best take notes?
Participate in Class
The more you talk about something the more likely you are to remember it
Ask others how they are doing things, ask me about advice

7. A brief look at the Syllabus (or at least the portion relevant to parents)
School Supplies- A little open ended, students must have something to take notes in and to keep track of handouts
Option A- 4 in binder
Option B- (2) 2in binders
Option C- Spiral Notebooks and one ½ binder
Notecards
Pencils, Pens, Highlighters
Attendance- Students who have unexcused absences on major assessment days may not be given a chance to make up the work.
Dress code & Cellphones
Dress code at DSA is pretty reasonable, please if possible make sure your child understand what IS and IS NOT school appropriate
