INVESTIGATION: Physical and Chemical Changes
PROBLEM: How can I recognize a physical change and a chemical change? HYPOTHESIS: If I see a physical change, then I will see… If I see a chemical change, then I will see….. MATERIALS: 2 beakers, 2 ice cubes, 1 stirring rod, 1 scoopula, 1 watch glass, 1 watch glass with copper sulfate on it, 1 graduated cylinder, vinegar, baking soda, aluminum foil, water, copper sulfate

INVESTIGATION: Physical and Chemical Changes (continued)
PROCEDURE: Observe and record data on: Part 1: … melting ice. Part 2: … baking soda and vinegar. Part 3: … rolled foil and copper sulfate solution. Part 4: … boiling water. DATA / OBSERVATIONS: [Make the table using ONE WHOLE PAGE.]

INVESTIGATION: Physical and Chemical Changes (continued)
DATA ANALYSIS: [Answer these questions: Were there any patterns (repeated occurrences)? Try to put your observations into groups of similar types of observations. What kind of observations matched with each type of change? ] CONCLUSION: [Was your hypothesis correct or not? How did you know if it was correct? What could you do differently? Summarize what you learned. ]
