In a couple of weeks I will have a meeting with Dale to discuss what you said……
Then we all will get together and talk about what you said………
Leading us to laying out our next steps as a church.
We will be using the book Church Unique by Will Mancini as a framework for our discussion…..

Most of us don’t even have goals (83%)….we just kind of float through life hoping we get where we think we want to end up….
Of the 17% of us that actually have goals, only….
8 % of people actually achieve their new year’s resolution…….
the rest of us either gave up making them a long time ago, or make them and give up often by the end of the first week of the year…….
When you actually write goals down on paper in some way…….
on the other hand……success rate increases by 80% yet only 3% of us actually take the time, make the effort to write them down…..

8. Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it.

9. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. All of us, then, who are mature should take such a view of things.

Laid hold of me…KJV….which he had to do to pull me out of the miry clay and set my feet on the solid rock….
Walk in humility – he recognizes he didn’t reach this on his own

live opposed to the cross, hostile, wishing it is harmed
end is destruction – ruin, to wear out
ruled by their appetites – submit to
brag about - talk trash about the pile of trash they are accumulating
think about what is temporal rather than what is eternal – earthly things….none of which are transferable to our citizenship in heaven.

Power – dynamite
transforms us – outward appearance changes from old, sore, weak to a new resurrection body
enables us – provides the ability we need to face life and walk in victory over our sinful temptations
strengthens us – provides the strength we need to hold our ground
Together – brothers……..vs. 13, 17, 4:1 the Christian life and the power of Jesus are meant to be experienced in community

Need to forget? - You can’t move forward and be constantly rehearsing the past……it divides your attention and your energy…..
Towards what are pressing on? – What is grabbing your attention? What are you focused on, leaning into….?
Who will influence you? Who do you spend time with, listen to, read about?
Can you wait for God's power? – or do you need to “do something” now, in your own strength and wisdom……….
