4
Task 1 – Number Skills Fractions Percentages Ratio Number Formula
5
“Divide by bottom, times by the top”
Fraction of a number Find 𝟐 𝟓 of 50 50 ÷ 5 x 2 = 20 “Divide by bottom, times by the top”
6
x = 26.8213 37% of £72.49 = £26.82 Percentage of a number
Percent – “Out of 100” 37% = 𝟑𝟕 𝟏𝟎𝟎 = x 72.49 37% of £ = £26.82
7
Ratio 3 5 8 108 288 180 Share 288 in the ratio 3:5 + : Hint
288 ÷ 8 = 36 x 36 x 36 x 36 + 108 288 180 :

Task 2 – Measure, Shape & Space
Measurements Shapes Perimeter Area Volume Scale
10
Measurements 10mm = 1cm 100cm = 1m 1000m = 1km 10ml = 1cl 100cl = 1l
Learn these 10mm = 1cm 100cm = 1m 1000m = 1km 10ml = 1cl 100cl = 1l 1000g = 1kg 1000ml = 1l 1000mg = 1g
11
Tessellation A Tessellation (or Tiling) is when we cover a surface with a pattern of flat shapes so that there are no overlaps or gaps.
12
Perimeter 15m 5m Perimeter = 15 m + 5 m + 15 m + 5 m = 40 m
The perimeter of a shape is the distance around the outside. Perimeter 15m 5m Perimeter = 15 m + 5 m + 15 m + 5 m = 40 m
13
Area - Rectangle Area = height x width Area = 3 x 5 Area = 15 cm2 5m
14
Area - Triangle Area = ℎ𝑒𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡 x 𝑤𝑖𝑑𝑡ℎ 2 Area = 4 x 8 2
8 cm 4 cm Area = ℎ𝑒𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡 x 𝑤𝑖𝑑𝑡ℎ 2 Area = 4 x 8 2 Area = = 16 cm2
15
Area – Compound Shape Area B = ℎ𝑒𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡 x 𝑤𝑖𝑑𝑡ℎ 2 = 4 x 4 2
4 cm 8 cm Area B = ℎ𝑒𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡 x 𝑤𝑖𝑑𝑡ℎ 2 = 4 x 4 2 A B = = 8 cm2 Area A = 4x4 = 16cm2 Whole Area = = 24cm2
16
Circles (L2 only) Circumference 𝜋 (Pi) = 3.14 iameter adius
17
Area = 𝜋r2 Area - Circles (L2 only) 𝜋 = 3.14 Area = 3.14 x 42
= 50.24cm2 8cm
18
Volume Volume = 5 x 8 x 3 = 120 cm3 Area of the face x depth 5 cm 3 cm
19
Scale – small squares 1m ÷ 10 little squares = 0.1m 1m 1m 0.1m or 10cm

Averages Hey diddle diddle the median’s the middle, you add and divide for the mean. The mode is the one you see the most, and the range is the difference between.
26
The difference between the highest number and the lowest number.
The Range The difference between the highest number and the lowest number. 76 22 42 67 33 27 Range = 𝐻𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑒𝑠𝑡 𝑁𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 −𝐿𝑜𝑤𝑒𝑠𝑡 𝑁𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 Range = 76 – 22 = 54
27
The Range – what does this show us
H GH A high range shows inconsistency in the data, there is a lot of variation. I NCONSISTENT L W CONSISTENT A low range shows consistency in the data, the numbers are pretty close together.
28
Mean = 𝑇𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑛𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 𝐻𝑜𝑤 𝑚𝑎𝑛𝑦 𝑛𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟𝑠
The Mean divide Mean = 𝑇𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑛𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 𝐻𝑜𝑤 𝑚𝑎𝑛𝑦 𝑛𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟𝑠 24 22 14 4 20 12 Mean = = = 96 6 = 16
29
The Median (L2 Only) Median = Middle Number (when in order) 7 9 27 13 42 11 36 7 9 11 13 27 36 42
30
The Mode (L2 Only) Mode = Most Occurring 96 84 73 88 68 91 Mode = 84
31
L2 is given a numerical value.
Probability L1 is described in words. eg. Impossible, Unlikely, 50/50 chance, Likely, Certain L2 is given a numerical value. Probability is given as a fraction, decimal or percentage.
32
Probability – L2 A bag contains 9 blue marbles, 5 red marbles and 6 green marbles. What’s the probability of selecting a blue marble from the bag? Fraction Or Percentage What you want: How many blue marbles there are 9 20 9 20 x 100 = 45% Or Total outcomes: How many marbles there are in total
